Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honours Degree in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ)
  • Masters in Economics from the University of Kent at Canterbury (UKC)
  • D.Phil. in Development Studies from the University of Sussex

Godfrey is the director of the Labour and Economic Development Research Institute of Zimbabwe (LEDRIZ), a research think-tank of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) established in September 2003. Before then, he worked as an economist for the ZCTU (1986-2003) and as a statistician at the Central Statistical Office, now ZIMSTAT. Godfrey is the Board Chairperson of the Poverty Reduction Forum Trust and convenor at the Great Zimbabwe Scenarios Project. He has served on the Board of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat) and the Open Society for Southern Africa (OSISA).  Apart from his work at LEDRIZ, Godfrey is an external consultant for the International Labour Organisation (ILO) assisting Governments in the region integrate employment objectives in their macroeconomic frameworks to facilitate job-rich growth.
